CAWARRA SKI CLUB MT BULLER INFORMATION
CAWARRA BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2024 WINTER SEASON
Cawarra Ski Club opens its doors to the public for winter mountain fun and adventures at Mt Buller. Located within easy walking distance of all the action, this family-friendly lodge sleeps up to 22 people in winter with 5 guest bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and a live-in winter lodge manager.
Wake up to the sunrise from the lounge room and cook up a brekkie in the fully equipped kitchen before hitting the slopes. Head straight to the Lydia Lassila chairlift or take a short, free shuttle bus to your favourite run. The vibrant restaurants, bustling bars, shops and toboggan slope of Mt Buller Village are just a five-minute stroll from the front door.
You’ll love coming back to this retreat for your après-ski. Its warm, cosy lounge invites you to enjoy a hot toddy in front of the fireplace or while stargazing from the balcony. If you still have energy to burn, hang out in the games room and challenge your friends to a table tennis tournament.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast after a long day on the slopes, including 2 stoves, an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a fridge, and utensils. Fire up the Barbie and enjoy dinner and sundowners on the enclosed balcony.
Our local tip is to order takeaway pizza for your group from the Alpine Retreat across the road and enjoy easy takeaway in the comfort of our lodge dining area.
Skiers, snowboarders and snow lovers alike will be happy to find a drying room and laundry with a washing machine and dryer.

Private Ski Club - Lodge Environment
A family-friendly club lodge environment, Cawarra is a privately owned not-for-profit ski club that extends its welcome to the snow-loving public. It has private members who maintain the club but mostly the lodge is enjoyed by guests from the general public who have found us through word of mouth. The lodge is managed through Winter by live-in managers who are there to ensure the lodge is kept clean and guests are happy. They are only there during peak times and are not there to clean up after you. Please treat our lodge with the same respect and care that our members do. Cawarra has 5 bedrooms all with private en suites and large living, dining, games, and cooking areas.

GETTING TO CAWARRA SKI CLUB - MT BULLER BY CAR AND THEN THE MOUNTAIN TAXI IN WINTER
Find your way to Cawarra Ski Club at Mt Buller. First, enter the resort entry gates, there will be a gate entry fee for your car and its passengers into the resort carpark, which you should pre-purchase prior to your arrival day as on-mountain capacity can be limited. Cawarra does not provide refunds for lack of booking resort entry. You will also need to pay for your over-snow taxi, which will take you from your parked car up to the lodge (and return). As you approach the appropriate car parking area closest to the ski resort area, you will be directed to a specific parking spot. As you empty yourself and your luggage out of your car, a 4WD taxi will pull up behind you. Tell the taxi driver you are going to Cawarra Ski Club. They will drop you off in our driveway or across the road outside the Alpine Retreat. You cannot avoid this cost, it is part of staying on the mountain.
P.S. – The Mt Buller website has heaps of great information especially for first timers.
So in summary, take with you in the car: The lodge name ‘Cawarra’, and the door code for entry. Also we recommend trying to pack with as few bags as possible and having them all zipped up and ready to go when you arrive in the car park on the mountain. Sometimes it's a good idea to stop in Mansfield on the way through to get the car organised (especially when driving with kids), and if you have stopped for a supermarket shop.
CAWARRA SKI CLUB, MT BULLER - FOR SKIING/SNOWBOARDING
If it's your first time on the mountain or you are a beginner skier, we recommend starting your day by going down to the village square on your first day to get orientated.
We recommend you pre-purchase your lift tickets and lessons for at least your first day.
If there is enough snow, you can ski or snowboard down the side of the road to the lifts. The first lift you’ll get to from Cawarra is Lydia’s ski lift and you can ski 2 turns down and then take a right down a trail behind the lodges to follow a trail to get to two consecutive rope tows that will lift you up to an area near the top of the Standard ski run. There must be enough snow for these lifts to be running, and you need to be at least an intermediate level to get down the Standard ski run.
To return home after skiing, you can access the bottom of Lydia’s lift by a trail near the bottom of the Standard ski run. Again, there must be enough snow for this trail to be open and need to be at least an intermediate level. You can also ski to the bottom of Bourke Street ski run and walk or catch the free village shuttle from the bus parking area up to the Alpine Retreat. Walking up to Cawarra is relatively easy and usually quicker than waiting for the shuttle.
CAWARRA SKI CLUB, MT BULLER - WALKING
Cawarra Ski Club is only a 5-minute downhill walk to the Village Centre. In this area are a supermarket, rental and retail shops, bars, and restaurants. A return walk can take 5-10 minutes as it is a slight incline uphill. Again, there is a free village shuttle if you require it. The coffee in the village area is a morning must-do for many seasoned members!
