What Do I Need To Know Before I Go To The Snow At Mt. Buller?

Travelling to Mt Buller is a beautiful scenic 3 hours drive from Melbourne. There are many ways to travel there, by car, bus and helicopter if you choose.  If you are going by car and are going to be staying overnight then you must carry wheel chains, these can be hired in Melbourne or on the way to Mt Buller at most ski shops. Buller Sports is located on the way it is recommended to check with them to make sure that they have your size chains in stock.

You may be driving in snow and icy conditions which is very different to what you would be used to and you will need to adjust your driving to stay safe.

Once you arrive at the Resort Entry Gate you will pay a resort entry fee, See Costs. and at this point you can purchase your taxi fare tickets if you are staying overnight, these tickets will take you from the car park to your accommodation on the mountain. If you are going to the snow for a day trip then you can jump on one of the mountains complimentary shuttle buses.  Everything is within walking distance when you are on the mountain and you can jump on a free village shuttle bus that goes around the village regularly.

If you are wanting to take ski/board lessons these can be booked prior to you arriving on the mountain that way you won’t be disappointed if you can’t get the time slot that you want, check the prices and different types of lessons available here.

There are many eating places on the mountain day and night including pizza, lodges, hotels and a noodle restaurant. There are also many places to buy food and beverages during the day while you are out on the slopes, see here for more details on where to eat and drink while staying at Mt. Buller.
